In March 2006, GALLERY KOGURE opened its gallery in Tokyo (the opening was Atsushi Suwa solo show). The director, Hiroshi Kogure, had been trained in an art gallery in Tokyo for 18 years, so his total career is 23 years. In January 2009, he opened his second gallery "LOWER AKIHABRA.".
GALLERY KOGURE, regarding Japanese culture as a starting point, gives the highest priority to producing artists who have four principles of technique, design, creativity, and color sense and will achieve further maturation. In the field of realism painting, Japan has especially high-level environments where not a few young top artists are produced, which is undoubtedly the highest level in Asia. Also, regarding artists in other genres, they are deliberately producing top-quality works. Though the number of works one artist produces in one year is from 3 to 10 in average, we are producing art works which will exist even several hundreds of years later.
We have participated in art fairs since 2007, and the number of fairs we participate in has gradually increased to be 10 in 2011.
In the field of contemporary art, it's unnecessary to say distinct creativity is vital to the artist, and originality presented by artists who have been interested in and studied great antiquities and excellent craftsmanship and describe timeless works with elaborate color combination and techniques is absolutely immortal.
