GALLERY INFORMATION
FUMA Contemporary Tokyo|BUNKYO ART
BUNKYO ART was established in 1982, in Yushima, Bunkyo ward, Tokyo. In 1988, we opened our project gallery in Ginza. In 2010 we relocated to Hacchobori, Chuo ward in Tokyo, and established FUMA Contemporary Art, a contemporary art department.
Since the founding, the gallery continues to introduce the number of avant-garde artist such as Key Hiraga, Hiroshi Nakamura, Kuniyoshi Kaneko, Jiro Oyamada and Masao Tsuruoka who represent Japanese art of the ‘50s and ‘60s. For many years, the gallery helped artist emerge by actively organizing exhibitions and helping artists exhibit their work in noteworthy national museums. Since 2005, the gallery focuses on working with talented young artists, guiding them to generate new possibilities in order to pass on their beliefs to future generations. We work closely with artist such as Yoshitoshi Kanemaki, Yuta Nakazato, Ayako Kita or Kohei Yamada and we thrust to bring the artists to local and international platform by promoting them abroad and participating in major international art fairs. All to revitalize the Japanese art industry.
