Gallery Information
GALLERY MOS
Gallery MOS is a Japanese commercial art gallery founded in 1988. The gallery is based in Matsusaka, a city of culture and art that produced historical figures such as Norinaga Motoori and Shohaku Soga in the Edo period, Tekison Uda and Yasujiro Ozu in modern age.
Mission of Gallery MOS is to provide opportunities for people to meet “Work that enriches the mind and life” in these busy modern days, when people are losing passion for things around them.
Gallery MOS mainly focuses on introducing works with motifs like animals, plants, nature, people that bring peace in mind and energy. In solo and group exhibitions, the gallery introduces works of young artists actively working across the country, and those artists are all either from or living in Matsusaka.
“Art is necessary for the place suffering from depopulation” is the Gallery MOS’s message. To share this message and to make Matsusaka the leader of Japanese art from the past, to today, and to future, Gallery MOS is seeking for the opportunities of art exhibitions outside Matsusaka.
