Born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1983, Lin Shu-Kai earned his BFA and MFA from Taipei National University of the Arts. He currently lives and works in Tainan.

Lin's practice centers on graphic art and spatial installations. Inspired by Tainan’s temples, winding alleys, and religious totems, he deconstructs and reassembles personal experiences to create intricate symbols. These symbols form imaginary architectures, shaping his Balcony City Civilization series. Beyond religious imagery, he repurposes wooden molds from his father’s factory to construct futuristic city models, exploring the transformations of urban and island landscapes.

He has exhibited at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Asian Culture Center (Korea), Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan), and internationally in Germany, the U.S., the Netherlands, and Thailand.
