Takahashi Joe

Born in Tokyo in 1999.
Second year master's student in the sculpture department at Tokyo University of the Arts. Studied under Shinji Ohmaki.

Even now, we live our lives at the mercy of mysterious forces. These cannot be explained by science, and there must be something we do not know that causes them.
Through my work, I search for ways to perceive the vectors and distortions of existence by juxtaposing myself with that force.

I think the Earth is the largest sculpture.
I feel as if the earth, which changes with the ebb and flow of the waves, is a giant piece of clay that is constantly changing. I use sculpture as a way to create a connection between myself and that giant mass. At the same time, I think it will be the beginning of expanding the ontology of sculpture, which has been defined only in the context of the Earth, to the universe.
